Fendi in London, and Mayday Madness!

Well Mayday has come and gone without any Maypole madness, and just been a chilled day for us here at www.sendoptics.com. 

 Fendi had a grand opening this week with the' king Karl' in attendance along with Lilly Allen.

Sunglasses are still causing a great debate in the fashion world ....big is best ,and acetate is the king. Mixed materials are far from doing wrong. Thierry Lasry is king of the big frame with the 'Orgasmy' being a huge fashion favourite, especially with Rihanna.

 Fendi is creating waves with the 'Iridia' cats eyesand are being stepped up and glamorized. The frame is becoming nothing less than a staple for anyone in the know and featured in any glossy worth reading and bloggers are going mad for the frames. We are lucky to be official stockists of the Fendi range and were lucky enough to be invited to see King Karl's creative lab in Milan and all i can say is i want to live there.

Coachella is round again.

The year 2014 is turning out to be a bit of an odd one for the weather here in the U.K.. The first week of April has seen an attack of the Saharan sand being dumped from across Europe, and copious amounts of air pollution creating a smog that has seen a rise of people calling in to the practice for dry eye drops. Thierry Lasry makes a faux pas with the Anorexxxy, or a cult fashion collectors item.

 Well, at the end of last week, a huge story in the fashion world broke, and a fury of Facebook posts and Twitter feeds went ballistic. The story of course was Thierry Lasry caused offence with their  Anorexxxy frame. The mother of an anorexic slammed the company for glamorizing the disease.

  

 People bombarded Thierry Lasry's Twitter page with messages demanding  the company to change the name. This was a coup for the campaign, and within hours Thierry Lasry released a statement of apology and renamed the frame. Showing the power of social media as it was not until later in the week traditional media twigged to how big this was in the Fashion world. 

  

Thierry Lasry has a huge amount of celebrity followers who covert their exquisite frames including Jessica Alba, Rhianna, Anne Hathaway to name but a few. The design and the quality of the Thierry Lasry collection is head and tails above it's competitors. In my view the label itself has only made a mistake by letting a quirky name try to sell what can only be described as a great design.

  

The article itself was from the Daily Mail (UK) newspaper and held a comments section with varying opinions including those in support of the view of freedom of expression and artistic integrity. I tend to sit on the fence here, as a stockist of the Anorexxxy/Axxxexxxy and in response to having these we have not been instructed to send back or to remove the title. The frame is stunning so do not judge it on a name, but by the quality that Thierry Lasry is renowned for

Well what an utterly brilliant week it has been, more new sunglasses have been arriving. Just in time for the mini heatwave ....or should that be the arrival of springtime all be it slightly delayed. The sun certainly is having a great effect on the townsfolk here with people finally walking around with smiles and the sunglasses are out in force.

  Raf Simons has made a great impact with his re-imagining of Dior ,
 With his appointment, people were excited. The first collection was embraced by the fashion collective as an international hit to put the Galliano episode in the past where it belongs.

 Colour, pattern, texture and Simons obsession with clean lines and architecture have made a happy marriage so far with the classics of Dior. The collections are truly breathtaking , with lines so fluid the overall shapes look effortless. Prints are classic and abstract, as is the whole Dior look classically modern.

 The accessories collection has also been overhauled with a more modern twist sunglasses no longer logo emblazoned.... think more class than chav. Handbags and shoes also marry into the whole look.

 Back to the the fore mentioned, sunglasses last year saw the arrival of  DiorAudacieuse ,which has become a firm favourite among the clans. Simons not only mixed the cats-eye with the Dior butterfly over-sized, and created a hybrid that is selling like hot cakes. This season it is all about the Dior DiorSoReal , an aviator style with palladian inspired detailing featuring a single brow ridge and an almost cornice edge to the temples. A mix of metal and acetate make this frame complete.

  The frame itself is edgy yet traditional suiting most face shapes. Celebrities including Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Palermo have all been seen in this seasons frame from Dior.
 Dior in the UK have decided this frame is not to be stocked by just anyone.In fact, only six other suppliers are permitted in the UK and Judges', we are lucky enough to have been selected.

  Well this year so far has been a busy old time for our very own Sir Paul Smith , not only with an exhibition at the London Design Museum, but with an astounding menswear collection based on the style of rock royalty Jim Morrison. Jewel colours, carpet patterns and huge swathes of scarves. The look was a true Paul Smith classic with edgy style and a wearable feel to all and a good dash of humour. Men wear any of these colours with any of the Paul smith sunglasses collection but the Judges favourite has to be Callum PM4056 5013/T4 a double bridge aviator with a purple haze lens.

Colour clashing monochrome. Dior versus cutler and Gross.

 Well the weekend started off a bit ropey, but this Sunday has turned into a bright eyed day with a chill, but ideal for rocking those sunglasses.

Well , fashion weeks have been done, and fashion for the next year has been truly set. Riotous prints and colours versus monochrome madness.

  Before we do the big reveals, we will be photographing and pricing these new labels to commence the release. Dior saw  a flower garden mould into exaggerated  tulip shapes, subtle hues with embellished detailing. Finest fabrics mixed with techno finishes. Couture clashes with  the present creating a new look again. Raf Simons turns life into a dyeing art.

Cutler and gross present a strong look ,with a strong look of angles and fluid shapes. Black severe frames and grey finishes turning a face into a feature. Muted colour ways with accents to break up the tones and blocks. Blankets and scarfs. Coats finished with fur effect collars and cut to mid calf.
