Balenciaga has welcomed a New creative director in the guise of Alexander Wang, who has had acclaim with his own label for the past few seasons and recruited a bevvie of celbrity followers. So us Judges are excited to see what will occur with this appointment and if Balenciaga continues to become a bigger name than they already are.

Stella McCartney , Paul Smith, Giorgio Armani have also had a massive years Stella won British designer of the year award and Best British Brand. Paul Smith was chosen to make a special crown to comemorate the Queens diamond Jubilee or as I like to call it that little tea party she had for two days. Giorgio Armani opened his first hotel in Milan.

Miu Miu scored another on the most wanted list with their Culte sunglasses and the continuing success of the Noir coleection.

Prada scored a great big yes off the fashion pack with the the Dixies and Teddy collections based on Americana from the 50's.

Pam Hogg's advice.....how to win this winter....infact, everyday of your life.

Well hello Judges,

After a short break from the Christmas shopping and the hub-bub of Christmas drinks and nibbles parties…. Personally I am sick of eggnog and also sick of mulled wine. Are you ready for the coming of the end this coming Friday ? I think the power companies should just flick a switch for 10 minutes to make us all believe the end has truly come.

Well , last night whilst flicking through the 500 hundred odd channels on Sky, I stumbled over the canary haired Pam Hogg talking through her style tips , and one piece of advice is that if ever you invest in any accessories it has to be quality sunglasses, and the type that hide a multitude of sins and give the sense of mystery. Pam also stated that you can people watch in a much more subtle way with them.

Is Miranda Kerr going for the most glamorous mum?

Hey there judges !

What an end to a week we have had the British Fashion awards, with the talk of London Stella McCartney bringing home not one but two of the big awards as mentioned in the previous blog and her company growing to be worth £21 million. With more licence's coming up and the awards cementing her proof to be a renowned class designer on her own and not just because of her surname.

Well breaking news on the final day of November at Balenciaga is that Nicholas Ghesquiere is to be superceded by the relatively new fashion world lovely Alexander Wang. His relative inexperience is nothing as his collections have been wowing editors all over the world and Balenciaga are hoping that his appointment will bring mass appeal to the growing label. In the last blog we also showed a picture of ever glamorous Miranda kerr in Miu Miu culte . Well the next day in her dress down day she sported the previous season classics in taupe shimmer smu n10s noir ... this woman is just so hot on the style front at the moment. She never fails to amaze even in jeans and with a husband like Orlando Bloom I suppose it is a need to be glamorous even when hailing a yellow cab for you your little one.

A Stella night out at the British Fashion Awards

Well it's been wet and cold this week , but our favourite Brit Stella McCartney has cleaned up with two awards over at the glamorous British Fashion Awards.Stella McCartney has had one hell of a 2012: first her time in the spotlight this summer as designer of the Olympic and Paralympic uniforms and Team GB kit, then a series of successful runway collections shown in Paris, and the announcement this year that the brand has seen substantial growth from 2011 to 2012 -- sales were up 19 percent to £21 million.
The year will have ended on a high, as McCartney was announced as the winner of two major gongs at the 2012 British Fashion Awards. Stella picked up Designer of the Year and then took to the stage again to accept the Designer Brand 2012 on behalf of her own label.

Well for all you domesday preppers and rapture fans, the day of the winter solstice is nearly upon us, and as the sun is low at this time of year you need to protect those mince pies (cockney rhyming slang for eyes...for our overseas readers) from that harmful UV that will be around at that time of the year.
And if the Mayans, Nostradamus, Mother Shipton et all are right, the UV will be 'slightly stronger' than normal.....and you need to look cool as well protecting those eyes when it's time to meet your maker.

The fashion world this week has handed another shake up here at www.sendoptics.com we are still giddy from the shock news that Balenciaga and Nicolas Ghesquière are to part ways after 14 years.

The S/S 2013 was received with the highest of acclaims everyone from Italian to Nipon Vogue considered this the collection to return Balenciaga back to a household name.

Balenciaga this year launched it's second new wave scent with a new face that is full of controversy. Kirsten stewart the heartbreaker of Robert Patterson is the face of Florabotanica the latest fragrance.

What does this have to do with you avid sunglasses fiends I hear you say. Steady on Judges' , it is simple... this years collection of Balenciaga sunglasses, the last to be made by the infamous Safilo under the creative direction Nicolas Ghesquière is sure to be a fashion collectors item. Rumours are siting that the relaunched house of Schiaparelli have poached Balenciaga's own hurricane sandy.

I don't know about you Judge' , s but this year in fashion has seemed like the end and rebirth all in one with so many high profile parting of ways.

So for now Judges I would just like to wish Nicolas Ghesquière the best of luck in everything he does in the future and await with baited breath to see what is coming next.

Before i finish this week, in the Gaurdian newspaper uk , not only did they run an article on glasses but they stated ti was the biggest fashion accessory of the coming seasons. biggest of news was not only that Victoria Beckham was sick of not being able to see properly but was designing a collection with Cutler and Gross.

So who is your favourtie Glasses wearer? mine personally are more political than mere celebrity. People of power and stature and that made a difference to society or history.

McQueen creates a buzz this year, and 'that' dress

Well hello Judges,

I hope this finds you well and all cosey, the clocks are firmly set back and it's ofically winter here in cold Blighty. It has not stopped us wearing our sunglasses with pride. I have found the early crisp mornings rather confusing for one's wardrobe. How many layers are too much in this cold weather???

Judges' , allow me to tell you a little about Mcqueen

Mcqueen strode onto the international fashion radar back in the 90's. He was renowned for his use of provocative cutting techniques to his tailoring, and sensational catwalk shows. Mcqueen never shyed away from controversy, and relished the attention his antics bought , and it was these methods that made the label Mcqueen one of the must have labels still today.

Mcqueen has had a fantastic year overall this year first they were the chosen House to make the most famous dress of the year and possibly in recent history. The wedding dress for Kate Middleton changed many peoples perceptions on the house itself and attracted attention for the craft that the house is renowned for. A collection that was based on the humble honey bee and it's creations finished this year to raptuous applause.

This year , Mcqueen has recorded record profits and celebrated in true style by opening a menswear store in Saville row. Lee Mcqueen began his tailoring career with royal roots established making suits for Prince Charles amongst others.

If you like your sunglasses in strong shapes, flashes of colour and on some models a little Mcqueen finish with the houses famous Skull.

The light is shining for Swarovski

Hello Judges,

I hope you are well here at www.sendoptics.com we have been very busy sending out orders and looking at the forthcoming collections for 2013. It seems as usual the fashion world cannot wait for the year to be over and done with.

Swarovski was one of the collections we have had the privilege to see. The collection is very elegant and will sell no doubt with their hit of a year that is almost over. Cheryl Cole is still a massive fan and with spending more time in the states is rarely spotted without a pair of Swarovski sunglasses as is Christina Aguilera. Well Judges I bet the pair is like a pair of crystal princesses.

 

 

 

 

 

This year as well as excelling with a variety of new styles to the sunglasses to the Swarovski range. Swarovski also embellished the entrancing make up look to the Dior ready to wear show. The make-up artists chose to compliment eye sockets with pastel shades of the infamous Elements crystals that the fashion world has come to use from clothing to make-up looks to bedazzle the viewer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For now Judges I am off to watch some good old fashioned glamour filled film and am looking forward to seeing the crystal filled Great Gatsby this Christmas. Talking of Christmas remember in this winter sun to keep those precious eyes protected with u.v. levels being higher than in summer it is twice as important to feel cool and look cool

Here at www.sendoptics.com we have been very busy of late with a much bigger interest in our homegrown British designers ... both Stella McCartney and Paul Smith. Stella McCartney and Paul Smith are both multi national renowned designers that have created a huge buzz this year what with the Olympics and two knockout seasons for the pair.

Paul Smith Started in Nottingham and now has shops all over the world creating high fashion for any element of your life. 18 years ago Paul Smith launched his eyewear range designed by Oliver Peoples. The two companies still share the same passions for excellence in fashion and quality. The two are a match made in Optical heaven both loving vintage pasts and a zest for quirks.

This year has seen Paul Smith opening new stores across Europe, America and Asia like he has never heard of the recession. Launching new lines such as Bicycles, Mens and Womens and reinventing kidswear yet again with his signature humour and style.

Paul Smith is being honoured with an exhibition at the London design museum for his Golden year in fashion. Collaborations with the likes of Barbour are another string to Paul Smith's bow .
