10 things about sunglasses and how they may protect your eyes.

10 things about sunglasses and how they may save your sight.

Well welcome back!
We hope March is treating you to some sun as it is us, all be it struggling through. Let’s hope the mad March Hares bring us some fantastic rays to bring our spirits back and the vitamin d back into our system( it’s true sunshine does make us feel more positive)
Well at www.sendoptics.com are busy getting ready for easter with many of our actual in store customers choosing to purchase sunglasses or optics as a present. We never really considered this until one of elderly patient’s came in and said their wife was undergoing treatment for cataracts and he had been told by the specialist she was under, that in not any circumstances to go out in the day unless she had a pair of UVA/B protected sunglasses.
Sunglasses whatever you use them for these days are a staple whether it like above, be a medical reason, fashion or for more specialist reasons. So we at www.sendoptics.com would love to hear why you wear yours.
We Judges have always loved sunglasses, for instance in ancient China it is recorded that the high court judges used to oversee proceedings through crystal sunglasses so as to avoid sway on the jury.
Inuits were among the first people to use a form of sunglasses which was an ivory ( no doubt whalebone) figure eight shaped piece. This had a narrow slit and blocked much of the bright sun rays but offered no further protection.
In the mid 1800’s it was research into lens colour and certain health conditions that made further advances. After this research people with Syphilis were prescribed amber coloured lenses as with the condition they became sensitive to changes in light. ( sunglasses for sexual health whatever next).
Research has also began in the late 20 th century into how lens colour effects learning and behaviour. Dyslexics often are prescribed coloured lenses to help with the condition.
It was the 1920’s when an American created the first line of mass produced sunglasses, it was not until 1936 that the first pairs of polarized sunglasses were made available. Jump to the 1940’s and look on any film of beach life you will notice that the general public and of course movie stars of the time were not seen with sunglasses.
Sunglasses as well as being for the uber stylish are often prescribed for various eye conditions including snow blindness, cataracts and forms of eye cancer(insert anymore you can think)
The best way to purchase sunglasses is through a person or company such as an optician - Judges opticians in Leicester or an on line retailer where you can gain advice from an optician or optometrist if needed - www.sendoptics.com We always make sure the sunglasses fit the customers need for style comfort and need and online we provide a full years manufacturers guarantee.
As well as being popular with stars, sunglasses have become popular with poker players. This is so it can help to hide reactions and to intimidate opponents. Tournament players are now being sponsored by some big names.
Did you know that the colour of lenses can often have great effect on the wearer as well as the style.
Gray and green lenses are neutral because they maintain true colors.
Brown lenses cause some change t colour though they also increase contrast.
Turquoise lenses are good for medium and high light conditions, because they are good at enhancing contrast, but don’t cause significant color change.
Orange and yellow lenses increase both contrast and depth perception. They also increase color variation. Yellow lenses are used by pilots, hunter, shooters for their contrast enhancement and width perception properties.
Blue or purple lenses are purely cosmetic( oh you style junkies you)
Finally one thing you all should know is that regardless of summer or winter sun if we start to wear tinted glasses or sunglasses from a young age we can prevent damage and early ageing of the eyes.
We hope you found this little fact based blog of interest and we do hope you keep them peeled and protected. Think sunglasses think www.sendoptics.com

Balenciaga, la, la, la,

Bonjour Mes Judges

We are going all Gallic on today's next installment of the Judges blog, here at http://www.sendoptics.com/. So you are probably wondering why we are all sat in our Breton stripes, Beret's and drinking red wine. Well what's new with you ? with us here at Judges opticians in store we are very excited to finally be able to tell you of the first of our new ranges ....... Are you ready for this... we are proud to present the latest collection of Balenciaga Sunglasses.

So some of you may not be overly familiar with the Name Balenciaga. So here at http://www.sendoptics.com/ we are going to do a little getting to know you session to bring you upto speed.

Balnciaga is the is known as a French fashion house although the house now resides in Paris it actually began life in Spain or to be exact the Basque region of Spain. The house was founded by Cristobal Balenciaga in 1914 and Spanish Royalty were massive fans of his designs. When Balenciaga was forced to close his stores in Spain due to the Spanish revolution he moved over to Paris and quickly grew an even larger cult following with the fashion press quickly calling him a revolutionary in a dreary world.

The obvious comparisons quickly began with Christian Dior but in all aspects Balenciaga was so much further ahead than Dior with his design concepts and changing the shape of the way women dressed. In the postwar years he designed shapes that were so far away from what women had been used to wearing for so long and his designs were sculptured around the form.

Balenciaga basically has a history of going against the grain, creating trends not following in the shaadows like so many designers these days. Balenciaga today is a label that is reveered by the art scene and celebrity alike. Nicholas Gesquiere is in charge of the label these days and takes inspiration from the archives along with contemporary visions creating a youthful vibe mixed with effortless pieces.

You may have seen that Balenciaga launched their first perfume last year in time for Christmas, only to become the most popular scent of the year. Balenciaga has stores all over the world and opened it's first accessories store in where else, Las Vegas .... well if you must open one, you may as well go where the chips are flying high. So for what about the sunglasses i hear you chomping at the bit mes amis?. Balenciaga have plundered there accesories archives to bring you a vintage inspired collection of frames to suit different face shapes and of course this includes their most iconic 'cats eye'

So now all we need to do is welcome Balenciaga to the Judging panel and let us know what you think of this award winning collection.....

Keep safe
