Dannii Minogues Sunglasses Advice

Dannii Minogues Sunglasses Advice by Davina RIn the Mail on sunday magazine 23/10/11 style icon Dannii Minogue gives advice about the “extras” that jazz up an outfit. With regards to sunglasses she states……“Dont underestimate the power of sunglasses to jazz up an outfit. i never go anywhere without a pair in my handbag and a back-up pair in the car, and I have a few spares in a drawer in my wardrobe, too. I choose them according to my mood. some are very “Hey look at me!” Others allow me to hide when I’m in the mood to blend into the background, and some are practical for throwing on when I’m driving or have a sleepless night with Ethan (son). The secret is finding a shape that suits your face. I think aviators are timless…..( SENDOPTICS suggestion…..think Ray-ban, swarovski Paul Smith) - I have a pair in gold and silver. I own a pair of cherry - red heart shaped sunnies (SENDOPTICS suggestion…..think Dior, Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith) , and the vintage Christian Dior super -sizers (SENDOPTICS suggestion……look at Vintage section) when I want to up the glam factor!

UV And Winter Sun

UV and Winter Sun by AlexYou must protect your eyes as much during the winter months against harmful UV as in the summer. It is a myth that summer heat is associated with sunburn. It may be getting close to freezing, the leaves falling off the trees, but this has nothing to do with the power of the the sun’s UV.A good guide to what the sun exposure is to look at your shadow. If the shadow is SHORTER than you , typically as it is at noon , make sure you are protected. All our sunglasses feature UV protection and meet CE regulations so giving your eyes the best protection necessary. So when you go on your skiing holiday especially this winter, be sensible and wear sunglasses/ ski goggles along with UV protection on your lips and exposed parts of your face. You will regret it later on if you do not.For any other advice please do not hesitate and send us an e-mail toadmin@judgeopticians.co.uk

Sunglasses with speed

Fashion's great, but so's form sometimes!

When shopping for sunglasses, as well as 'do I look great in these?" ask yourself 'how do I plan to use them?". ". When you buy your shades from SendOptics, you can use their helpful list by categories to help you choose the right style - for instance within 'Adrenalin Sports' there's a fantastic range of TAG Heuer Speedways.

Face facts for real specs appeal!

As we drive further towards the holiday season (huzzah!) and bright sunny skies are no longer a myth, it's well and truly time to grab your sunglasses and tootle off to the park. But if we're honest, we're unlikey to grab a pair we already own - bright skies mean prime shopping time!

So, armed with your flexible friend - where do you start in picking the perfect pair?

Square face: You'll need slightly curved frames with the top high enough on the face to downplay the jawline.
Round face: Best to pick straight or angular frames in a deep colour with coloured lenses.
Triangular face: Select sleek oval lenses with coloured frames.
Oblong face: Remember that big is beautiful and go for a wide spanning frame to cover a broad section of the face.
Oval face: It's best to choose a frame that proportional to your face size.

Okay, so the frame style's sorted. What's next?

Sunglasses aren't meant to just be stylish, remember they need to function well too. It's best to take your eyes' needs in to consideration when picking the lenses.

The colour of lens can make or break if you'll continue to use your sunglasses after initial purchase, or whether they'll just become a fad buy.

Pick:
Grey tints to reduce brightness without distorting colour.

Brown and amber tints to reduce glare, including that created by sunlight, which can make things appear hazy.

Fashionable yellow tints to reduce the haze from sunlight and sharpen vision, but they cause greater colour distortion.

Green tints to reduce glare and help filter out some sunlight. They also provide good contrast between objects.

Rose tints to use in outdoor activities as it provides a good contrast for objects viewed against blue or green backgrounds.

Kim Kardashian - a big Jimmy Choo fan

Kim Kardashian’s fan site just goes to illustrate her love of the designer Jimmy Choo. Not only did she attend Jimmy’s store opening, but she has been spotted with sister Khloe on a Jimmy Choo shopping spree in Sydney, wearing…well Jimmy Choo of course!

Pictured is Kim, wearing a pair of Jimmy Choo marge havana sunglasses.

Oversize sunglasses reduce health risks.

Oversized sunglasses are all the rage for designer sunglasses producers. From Chanel to YSL the consensus is; if it isn’t chunky, forget it!

Celebrities love it, not only are they draped in the latest fashion, but it makes for excellent shade from the paparazzi, perfect if you’re stumbling out of a nightclub at 3am and would like to hide the night gone by! Alla, Lady Gaga! After all why would you need sunglasses in the dead of night?

Yet, there is another plus from these bulky sunglasses, as research from the vision council suggests. The area of skin around the eye is very delicate, therefore is at high levels of risk from UV rays. The extra protection provided by the designer sunglasses, not only reduces the risk of skin cancer, but also reduces squinting, which causes “crows feet.”

Perfect if you’re looking for an excuse to splash out on those must have glasses! Enjoy!

Malaika Arora sports Jimmy Choo’s new sunglasses

Finally the moment we’ve all been waiting for, but it has been well worth the wait! Sendoptics have now launched their Jimmy Choo sunglasses range. What a treat! So, what can you expect from the “brand designer of the year 2008”? Well nothing less than 14 pairs of sheer beauty of course!

Malaika Arora has been seen sporting a pair of Jimmy Choo's new glasses, needless to say she looks truly stunning.

Should Jimmy Choo’s range of shoes and bags be anything to go by, you can expect to see more of fashionable glasses in the papers, even on the set of shows such as Desperate Housewives and Dirty Sexy Money.

Truth is, any fashion conscious person can see the stunning blend of classic with contemporary that Choo has managed to design into his range of sunglasses, such as Jimmy Choo Karin. What is a little harder to spot however is the amount of craftsmanship that goes into a piece like this.

Notorious for quality, Jimmy Choo’s sunglasses are sure to fit the new durable fashion, which emerged from the Milan fashion show last week.

Should you wish to beat the rush, and grab your hands on a pair of these dazzling beauties, then click on the link and these trendy á la mode glasses will be yours just in time for sunny spring!

Credit Crunch Chic: Cheap Interim or Classic Investment buys? That is the question.

Well, you can't have failed to have heard how people are spending less yadda yadda yadda.

The real proposition is: instead of questioning how much you should spend on accessories etc, perhaps we should be asking how much wear will we get out of something we buy for a quick fashion fix?

Long term, emotionally and economically it makes sense to invest only in items that we genuinely adore and make us feel and look good.

The cheap fast-fashion delivered by the high street over the last couple of years, as we've discovered, only lasts a couple of wears/washes: it's here where we think it should stop.

Reuters report this week that production of Italian eyewear is being hit hard by the economic downturn. A world leader in the industry, they've found their main export market to the US dropping by more than 20% at a time of year when sales should be flourishing.

Play your part in keeping it all going by investing in a pair of sunglasses to keep forever. And this pair of Chanel havana frames with pearl detail at the temple is one we're looking to cherish...

Aussie cull on colour deficient lenses

Crazy as it sounds, last week it was reported by the Canberra Times that shades with brown, yellow or reddish tinted lenses will be unacceptable for driving in.

Those with rose-tinted rage were told that traffic-lights use a green-blue hue to help colour deficient road users (about 8% of men) detect green traffic signals, whilst sunglasses with a brown lense designed to block the glare from blue skies actually end up blocking out the blue light emitted from traffic-lights.

Professor Stephen Dain of the University of New South Wales, Australia and former head of the School of Optometry and Vision Science discovered that in a study of "49 colour-deficient males and 20 with normal vision were given various tinted sunglasses and asked to identify colours of simulated traffic lights.

"About 20 per cent of colour-deficient subjects wearing tinted glasses could not correctly identify the lights. His report notes that "response times for colour-deficient people were slower than colour normals for red and yellow" lights."

The interesting news for those style, rather than, science conscious wearers of sunglasses is that according to Professor Dain, European countries are trying to avoid imposing legislation on sunglasses manufacturers in an effort not to hamper sales.

If you fancy being particularly responsible, have a look at some high standard lenses to protect your peepers...

Daily Mail gets it all wrong as Kate Moss pushes for Prada

Shocking fashion alert; Daily Mail's self-appointed showbiz experts have got it all wrong - very wrong in the fashion stakes.

After accusing Kate Moss of stepping out in "bizarre Elton John style sunglasses" in a bid to bag herself a reputation as a veritable rock star, the red-top rag writers quite clearly forgot to do their research.

Any self-respecting fashion junkie could have spotted Kate's specs as the innovative Prada butterfly design (Model 18IS), as opposed to the vile glasses good ol' Reginald Dwight used to wear.

Prada's style is synonymous with bohemian glamour, and as a designer is well recognised brand whose name alone carries a distinct reputation for unique style and outstanding quality. Whether worn for street style or for shade in the sandunes, Prada offers an effortless boho-sleek look.
Send Optics provides the savvy sunglasses buyer with a broad range of Prada’s quirky yet stylish sunglasses. Prada sunglasses are distinctive in design with subtle yet large bold lenses with a smooth and trendy appearance.

Of the many celebrities who wear Prada sunglasses, Hayden Panettiere, Eva Longoria, Jill Hennessy, Spencer Pratt, Brad Pitt are just a few of the designer brand's fans.

Choose Prada for:
  • Innovative shapes
  • Bohemian glamour
  • Groomed style
As a fashionable alternative, why not pick the perenially on-trend Dior brand with their take on the oversized sleek black frame?
These large ladies plastic designer sunglasses by Dior are presented in a shiny black frame and graduated grey lenses.
A great buy for £113.00.

They're oozing glitz and glamour straight from the Audrey Hepburn school of class.

Bling, chintz, and leopard prints. Delicious.

Brad and An

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were spotted by Reuters photographers as they arrived at Narita airport, near Tokyo, with their children.

And look at Brad. Even behind those sunglasses he can't hid the shame of sporting a tash. Come on Brad, even as a Hollywood celebrity surely you wouldn't. Would you?

Is this is a sign that the tash is going to be making a 80s comeback? And if so, the big question is, will perms be back too?

Looking back (a bit)

I guess we should have done this a few weeks ago, but here's a run down of some interesting sunglasses articles we found last year.
NY Times back in July, 'Love Your Sunglasses (Should I know You?)', wrote
'According to NPD, total sales in the $3 billion sunglass industry rose 10 percent in the first five months of this year compared with the same period last year, even while the number of individual glasses has slackened -- an indication there has been significant growth at the upper end of the market, Mr. Cohen said.

Why are designer sunglasses bucking the downturn of other luxury goods? Retailers and other fashion authorities cite It-bag fatigue (women have bought more bags in recent years than they can store in their closets), whereas sunglasses are still a novel way to acquire the cachet of a designer brand'

Around the same time, there was also an interesting article in the Seattle Times on the utilitarian -fashion cross over that sunglasses represent '
To prove this theory, we sent testers out with several makes and models of sunglasses. We hiked in the Cascades, bicycled through Palouse wheat fields, flew paragliders on Whidbey Island and Tiger Mountain, climbed Mount Baker, kayaked on Hood Canal and ran along the Burke-Gilman Trail. In the end, our team of testers found a few standouts.'

Ray Ban Clubmaster Gets Makeover

My grandma used to say “if it’s not broken don’t fix it”. It might be an old adage but Rayban seem to be sticking to it. They’ve decided rather than coming up with new designs for sunglasses they’re going to take their existing range and update them.

On this particular occasion it’s the Clubmaster that Ray Ban have been working on. And on the 9th of December they’re officially relaunching their classic 50s designer sunglasses at the New York Bowery Ballroom. To get the party going RayBan has got local up-and-coming artists to recreate classic tunes from the 50s and 60s. Sounds great.

We’ll let you know as soon as we have pictures of the relauched designs. In the mean time, here’s something they made earlier, the older version of the Clubmaster.

Designer sunglasses hide celeb shame

Thank god Nicole has a pair of big wrap around sunglasses to hide her face and shame behind. Little Miss Rich Girl has either been popping too many pills or is need of some anger management help.

At Charlotte Ronson's New York Fashion Week after-party Nicole apparently completely lost it when a fan tried taking a photo of her. According to the New York Post Richie shouted, "I'm not an animal" then hurdled over the velvet rope, took the camera and smashed it on the ground.

Shame on her and her temper tantrums. Lucky her wrap around glasses were big enough to shield her shame. Once again a pair of Dolce & Gabbana or Prada come to the rescue.

Mirror Mirror on the catwalk

It’s New York fashion week and amongst the many other designers parading their autumn fashions is Marc Jacobs who has decided to provide us with multiple glamour on the catwalk.

Rather than the usual performance whereby models strutting their stuff down the strip, twirl and walk off, he’s introduced mirrors into the equation providing a totally different effect - and image of his latest fashion offerings.

And one lady who’s been spotted eyeing up his wears is young musician Christina Milian who has been showing off her oh so fashionable Marc Jacobs sunglasses. Now all she has to do is sort out her frock and she’ll be a winner on the fashion circuit.

Does pop diva Rihanna rock or what!

She took the audience by storm last night as she opened the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and give two amazing performances with rapper TI.

Decked out in a stunning black figure hugging number including a cropped black leather jacket, black jeans with black leather boots and some very cool sunglasses, she sang Umbrella and followed it with a fabulous rendition of her hit Disturbia.

While my singing would be the equivalent to scratching a mirror with a 10 inch nail I'm quite happy to take a tip from the young diva on fashion style. So today, i've decided mainly going to be wearing black and hiding my weekend hangover behind some star-like Diesel Metal retro aviator sunglasses.

80s Microsoft sunglasses break the bank

Some people will go to any lengths to get what they want. But when the WANT in question is a pair of distinctly 80s "Frankie Goes To Hollywoodesque" luminous green glasses with the Microsoft branding plastered all over - and the price tag on it is a jaw dropping $173,000 it's a long way to go and a very expensive want.

Yup, that's what someone in America paid on ebay for these um, cough designer sunglasses.

Or could this be a clever ploy by Microsoft to get some publicity? It would make sense, they're about the only people who wouldn't miss that sort of money, and the publicity they'll get for this pair of retro sunglasses could be priceless.

Whatever it is if it's all the same with them i'll stick with my £114 bargain Paul Smith sunglasses. They don't glow in the dark, they won't break the bank and they don't require me to get a bobble perm.

Lindsay Lohan hides behind shades

We're making today a Lindsay Lohan day - a day you can be bad but hide behind the security of your shades.

When Lindsay Lohan’s behaving she’s a very good girl. But when she’s bad there’s no disguising those little red horns.

Thank goodness her favourite designer shades were at hand this weekend when her dad blew another gasket. It’s no surprise really, instead of being at her granddaddy's funeral, young Ms Lohan was out shopping in Manhattan with her new boyfriend Sam Ronson, without a care in the world.

So if you're feeling in a devilish mood do what you want on Lindsay Lohan Day, and hide behind a pair of blackout glasses too. We suggest the Prada SPR 081 black for a chic girlie look or the Diesel DS 0009 wrap around sunglasses for the lads.

The Graduate...

Take a trip back to the 70s, channel some Simon and Garfunkel, drag out your drainpipes and rediscover your love for graduated shades.

Whether it's for lenses or frames, graduated sunglasses will provide echoes of 70s retro chic which easily blend with contemporary styles.

There's no need to dig out an old scratched pair from under your bed, Tom Ford's already done the legwork and styled up a pair that even Mrs Robinson wouldn't turn down.

Seduce yourself with this graduate, pick Tom Ford's plastic ladies designer sunglasses with a brown/green graduated frame and brown lenses for under £120 at Send Optics.

Adrenaline Junkie vs. Fashion Junkie

It would be crazy to ignore a rich history where fashion and functionality have crossed paths, particularly so in the sports arena. However, traditionally, stylish sportswear or more so specialist eyewear has been the preserve of ladies.

Contemporary sunglasses are biting back for the boys and giving skiers and cyclists a run for their money. Instead, we see fashion statement eyewear meeting quotidian purposes which results in shades you wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in on the street - but which would be pretty useful on the golf course too...a la mode du Tiger Woods.

Our pick are these Tag Heuer Wraparound unisex designer sunglasses with a black frame and infrared lenses. Smooth, sleek, stylish and sporting; the real deal at Send Optics. And for a limited time, on offer with 20% off.

“And…It’s a wrap!”

Wraparound sunglasses are making a comeback, and it's about time. These oversized frames are not only fantastic for UV protection from the sun, but make a substantial fashion statement and are incredibly on-trend this season.

Echoing back to the early 90s, wraparounds are back. Updated, sleek and the ultimate "shades", Carrie Bradshaw would be proud to don a pair.

A personal favourite are these Prada wraps from Send Optics; with a leather look finish and the eponymous embellished logo on the arms which really carry an air of rough edged elegance; fit for wandering the desert as a bohemian or perfect for eyeing up cowboys down Route 66.

Big is Beautiful

Oversized eyewear looks great on all face shapes and is big news this summer.

Whether you’ve had one too many to drink the night before, have had an accessories crisis, or are looking to oomph up an outfit, oversized glasses are an easy solution.

An on-the-street example of easy sleek sophistication, designers have gone crazy for oversize this season. This is largely due to the abundance of space that the broad frames and arms allow in order to accommodate season-specific branding and designers’ logos.

If what you’re after is an immediately identifiable frame, oversized glasses are the way to go. And the wealth of designers with a fantastic offering of this particular style of eyewear this season is simply staggering. Take your pick from Bulgari, Chanel, Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Versace or Yves Saint Laurent - or to save yourself some time, head over to sendoptics.com to peruse them all.

Getting the Hollywood look has never been so easy or so stylish; follow in the fashion footsteps of A-listers Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Victoria Beckham and Lindsay Lohan for an overt fashion statement.

Aviators – a Top Gun blast from the past…

Aviator glasses have been pushing at the peripheries of fashion for a few seasons now, and are a welcome throwback from the 80s due to their versatility (unlike puff-ball skirts). Pair your Aviators with some cowboy boots rock-a-billy style, an oversized shirt and chunky belt, or a pretty floral dress for any number of quintessential looks this season.

Designers have really gone to town on reinventing a fashion staple, and Aviators haven’t been so hot for decades. Opt for the classic Aviator by Ray Ban, or venture for something a touch more daring by designers who’ve brought their take on a classic frame to the fore of fashion with some great results.

Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses are very popular amongst celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Renee Zellweger, whilst Clive Owen has been spotted wearing a pair whilst filming a scene for an upcoming movie.

Robert Cavalli, Emporio Armani and Paul Smith’s designs all use the basic style of the Aviator frames but put their own talents into creating some truly original sunglasses.

Roberto Cavalli has created Aviator sunglasses that are truly unique. His use of diamantes and incorporation of the Roberto Cavalli logo into a particular pair of Aviator sunglasses is remarkable and gives this pair a stylish and eye catching appearance. This pair of distinctive frames is available to own here from Send Optics.

Emporio Armani has designed a variety of different Aviator sunglasses. With a range of different colours and lens shades, Emporio Armani Aviator sunglasses are the perfect accessory to finish your look, adding a touch of class to any outfit.

Paul Smith at Send Optics provide a fantastic collection of classic Aviator sunglasses in a variety of different shades, such as: Gold, Grey, Pink and Purple. The simple design to Paul Smith’s Aviator sunglasses ensures a subtle, yet stylish accessory to own.
