London Calling

Hello Judges,
I hope this finds you all well and you have been enjoying the sun and relaxing lots this week. It appears that New york fashion week passed by without too much causing outrage or rapturous applause. This being said, two collections were met with high acclaim... one being an ex spice girl and the other being an ex wife to a 'scientologist'. Victoria Beckham showed a collection of ultra cute dresses for her Victoria line and Katie Holmes premiered her first collection of separates to acclaim.

London Fashion week has been hailed a success so far with the likes of Jasper Conran sending down his models in fanatically simple clothing that represent British women to the full. He took a brave step(no pun intended) of sending down the models without shoes.

The Duchess of Cambridge favourite label 'Issa' premiered their S/S13 collection that can only be described as a great big sod off to the recession with oppulent fabrics and beautiful bold prints to stunning blocks of tropical colours. Staple Issa shapes of structure through to floor skimming maxi's.

The evening of September 16th sees Paul Smith breaking a mold for himself by streaming live his Womenswear collection. My prediction for this will also be his next foray into sunglasses and optics. For those of you already in the know Paul Smith sunglasses are actually designed and made by Oliver Peoples. The collection will be Paul smith's unique twist on \British tailoring and heritage with his usual smattering of inspiration from his walks around London and the world. Good Luck Paul with another show. The man must be tired the amount of collections and stores he has opened.

Well Judges I have to say this evening like a lot of the UK I am going to be revisiting a by gone era with the return of Downton Abbey. As i sit here typing this, I am titivating my bow tie and dusting off my velvet smoking jacket. Downton has not only been a massive ratings winner it has captured the hearts of many designers world over, with collections going back to the 20's and 30's.

Prada pillaged influences from the Baroque period highly embellished and exquisite fabrics. The Prada Baroque sunglasses are still catching the eyes of many, and have proved to be extremely popular.
Prada also this season decided to celebrate all things Americana with the arrival of the amazing Cadillac friendly 50's movie starlet Dixie's you really are spoilt for choice with the colours www.sendoptics.com and the price for these genuine high quality and unique Prada 'Dixies' that will keep you smiling throughout the winter months and years to come.

Men, we have not forgotten you with the Prada 'Teddy's' this collection of sunglasses that can only be described as multi functional highly stylish and not forgetting quality. Whether on your way to the office, kicking about town or on the golf course Prada Teddy's are one way to stand out from the crowd.

Well Judges', with the new John Lewis TV campaign on in the background a Nostalgic evening it is for me with roast chicken and a Manhattan coctail.

Keep 'em peeled

Brothers in arms....legs...and sunglasses!

Good afternoon Judges,
Well it's been a little over a couple weeks since I promised a regular men's blog and as to our word this is it. So fellow Judges what is new with you ? Here at http://www.sendoptics.com/bottega-venata.html have been so busy with everything going in the shop and on line. I have added our new babies to the Judges stable ,those being http://www.sendoptics.com/balenciaga.html and the high luxe http://www.sendoptics.com/bottega-venata.html both attracting comments and praise so thanks so much for letting us know your thoughts on these, please continue to let us know your thoughts on the site and the collections and if you think I need to add anything drop me a line. Come on you know you love to tell me your thoughts as much as I love to hear them.
So Gent's as promised in this blog we are dedicating to you savvy dandies who are wanting to know the Judges thoughts on this Spring Summers trends. Read on..... We have recently launched the New Prada linear rossa collection, Prada have chosen world champion British boxing star Amir khan to be the face of the collection to show the strength and youthful approach to these classic high performance sunglasses. (add collection tag)
So what look will you gents be sporting this Season personally I am thinking of the wider legged trouser so much freer and if the sun does come out it's good to have a bit of air circulating isn't it. Trousers in general will still remain slim fitting at the base of the leg but becoming wider around the thighs. Think Downton Abbey, Upstairs Downstairs and not forgetting the Woman in Black... Nostalgia is as big for men this season as it is for women. (add sunglasses type here)
The biggest colour story that is happening this season for you men is a favourite safe hold , whether it is indigo, cobalt, Wedgwood, sky or pastel blue is not only the colour of the waters we are all dreaming of this summer or the sky's we have had a crafty peak at. Blue is not a mood it is the colour of peace and style. Don't just wear it as a single block wear it separate shades or with other colors of the moment. Bottega Venatta has rocked the use of blue for it's menswear spring/summer collection 2012.
With Gucci life become a fail safe fashion moment of plaid mayhem that of course worked so well in it's monochrome, vision of a summer classically tailored collection will suit all body shapes and most of all add that safe classic twist to a fresh mature look that is still bang on trend. Go Gucci go ........ Just add a preppy twist with a bow tie loafers and Gucci sunglasses
Bah humbug no I have not lost it but the barber set quartet are rocking those stripes so well i have decided to rock it myself ... not just Breton striped tops but the wider candy stripes or even convict stripes .... black or white or blue and white ... go on give it a go ( add sunglasses here and comment) The best thing about stripes are the candy stripes think a stick of humbug rock and back to the days when i strolled down the prom.
Last but not least is the dressier side of menswear this season fabrics that are iridescent in high luxe finishes, satin silks and of course the ever present tonic, don't go rocking the sweaty look sheen is the classy look fine velvet blazers are the way to dress at night.
Monochrome men is still with us too stay but this year try rocking the look with a colour block , blue and black are a good way to bring the two together . Prep it up style guru's and rock the looks with the Judge. One final piece of advice Just choose one or two key pieces and invest in your accessories. With this spring summer think outside your usual safety zones try new things. Come on sod the judgement of others there is only so much time left until we celebrate the 21 of December......
For now all I am off to do a spot of shopping to go with my new sunglasses ( just one of the perks of the job )
Keep em peeled and enjoy the sun and stay safe

And the winner is.....

Good day my fellow Judges,

I hope you are all fine and Dandy! Looking forward to the weekend … Here at Sendoptics.com we have been busy of late, what with the Fashion shows for A/W 2012 shows, customers coming into the shop looking at the new collections of optics and sunglasses. We have lots of great comments about our selections.

Well unless you have been living on the moon or in some far off country you may not be aware that it’s that time of year! Yup you Judges its awards time; we have already had The Grammy’s, The Bafta’s, The Mobo’s and recently we have had The Brit’s. The biggest award of the film world is upon us and the star’s of the big screen have been eating lettuce and bleaching and blitzing their bikini lines. Begging and stealing from any designer that is the one to watch.

The films are the obvious stars in the Oscars and they earn massive credence to popular and more art-house films also. For the past few weeks we at Judges Opticians have in our own time been enjoying some of the films our local cinemas have on the screen.

Well the firm favourite is ‘The Artist’ set to sweep the floor at the Oscar’s with multiple wins across the board. The film had us in awe set to a backdrop of the silent film industry in the transition of changing over to ‘talkies’. The film pay’s homage to Hollywood’s glorious hey days of the glamour and glitz of the 30’s. The stars would look equally at home in today’s styles the leading man Jean Dujardin would not look out of place in Oliver peoples sunglasses. The Starlet that looks so beautiful in everything she could easily go back in time and slot straight in to the silent era with the most beautiful features and expressive faces on film would look stunning in Miu Miu .

Another hopeful is ‘The Help’ which is set against a background of the changing political landscape of America and the changing attitude toward black housemaids in the civil rights era. The Star Viola Davis who plays one of the maids is up for an Oscar for best supporting actress and we think to finish the 60’s inspired look of Prada would look great on her.

Obviously we are loving ‘Warhorse' Speilberg created a masterpiece in this film and treated the subject with a great human story alongside a backdrop of the blood and squalid conditions of the first world war. The film itself is described as an epic and is deservedly recommended for various different award categories. The owner who is a young soon to be soldier played by Jeremy Irvine would look great in Paul Smith

The British made spy drama ‘Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy’ this is made in true Brit-flick all grit and in true sharp dressed elegance. The story itself is a classic and is known as one of the best spy dramas ever. The film has one of the best British casts to be seen in many a year. The cast as a whole would look fantastic in Dior homme any of the men would look great in these.

So we will be there on Oscars night with our popcorn and fake awards to see whether our Judgement on the films that are already held in high regard win their just rewards.

Keep ‘em peeled Judges,

The Judge

We all Want a bit of Prada Or is it Muccia?!

Well hello there,
You little Judges are being so spoilt with all these blogs, you will be wanting more soon, and we shall be giving you much more in the coming weeks with the launch of some very very exciting new labels for us here at www.sendoptics.com
Well, Milan is over and Paris couture is been and done and what a whirlwind it has been watching all that fabric and colours for what we should be wearing at the end of the year. Personally, we think Mcqueen nailed it with the lace head covering dresses oh so wearable and well with a pair of sunglasses you could lie and say you are going for the invisible man/woman look.....
So back in Italy and the crazy pace of Milan, what with the chain smoking, espresso, grappa and the elegance of the Italians themselves, this years men's and women's shows at Milan were hailed as some of the strongest with fashion favourites Prada both men's and women's collections the fovourites of the whole week for many an editor.....
So if you are a Muccia Prada what do you do if you are short of a few male models for your menswear show?....Well, you fly in a truckload of Hollywood's leading men and parade them up and down in a baroque inspired velvet laden heavily embellished menswear collection of course. Talk about lucky front pages for featuring not only the clothes but also the men. That is what I call marketing!.
Well, Muccia herself is the driving force behind the Prada label. As its creative director she not only fuels a passion for design but inspires so many in fashion. Prada has gone from strength to strength and has acquired shares in many companies along the way that were a thorn in their side. Muccia often is regarded not only as a designer but a despot in business. She is noted for keeping Prada at the head of its game by not only design but by taking control of rival companies. Most recently the company acquired the Jil Sander label and it placed Raf Simmons as its chief designer, noted for controversy and simplicity. This was a key move and he has put the house back on the map. Simmons is rumoured to be the successor to the throne of Dior due to his success eith the Sander house. Just remember, www.sendoptics.com told you first!
Prada this year is rocking back to the 1950's with its high octane of pimped up autos and petrol collection. The collection is a mismatch of beautiful figure hugging pieces with heavy embellishment to prove that in spite of the economic climate we can all still shine and enjoy a piece of pure class.
Back in the early new millenium Prada launched the Prada Linea Rossa diffusion range.Originally it was developed to support the yacht team that Prada sponsor for the annual race under the same name. The line is the sports line developed for high impact and sports in general whether it's running or water skiing, Prada ensures you are protected in such a cool way. Branding is high with the visible red stripe that is the Linea Rossa. www.sendoptics.com are proud to reintroduce this collection after a short absence. We believe with so many men taking time out to play sports and taking greater pride in themselves, the range will appeal to many with the great shapes and quality materials used in their make up.
Ladies, don't you fret, there is the range of Prada's especially for you. The collection is divided into two with classics having undergone a slight transformation and the introduction of the much talked about 'Swing Collection'.
As well as being popular with stars, sunglasses have become popular with poker players. This is so they can help to hide reactions and to intimidate opponents. Tournament players are now being sponsored by some big names.
Did you know that the colour of lenses can often have great effect on the wearer as well as the style?
Grey and green lenses are neutral because they maintain true colours.
Turquoise lenses are good for medium and high light conditions, because they are good at enhancing contrast, but do not cause significant colour change.
Orange and yellow lenses increase both contrast and depth perception. They also increase colour variation. Yellow lenses are used by both pilots, hunters, shooters for their contrast enhancement and width perception properties.
Blue and purple lenses are purely cosmetic (oh you style junkies you!)
finally, one thing you all should know is that regardless of summer or winter sun , if we start to wear tinted glasses or sunglasses from a young age we can prevent damage and early ageing of the eye.
We hope you found this useful, and please look at our Prada, Prada Linea Rossa, and Miu Miu collections at www.sendoptics.com

Aviators are so over!

Well it's the weekend and the reason I am writing this is due to something in the current edition of UK Vogue!...It may come as a surprise to many , but the style savvy have decided to throw all caution to the wind and declare you unfit for society if you are seen in a pair of aviators this season....
They say that VISORS are the best investment , but here at www.sendoptics.com we think they are not everyone's cup of earl Grey. Of course we have them (PRADA, PRADA LINEA ROSSA, GUCCI,DIOR, and many more) but we also have a lot more to choose from, so take a peek and forget all about last years aviators and invest in something new. We think that ROUND is the way forward. I promise that you won't look like the love child of Arthur Askey and Hirohito¬!!
Anyway, to share something funny with you that happened in a local supermarket express store,as I went through the door my ipod changed to a rather shameful Mika track (how sad am I?!). Not only that, but when i went to pay the lady serving had on a pair of shorts and a pair of nifty sunglasses. I asked 'have you actually been out there today? You must be freezing!'. The reply (her name on the badge was Chantelle.....spelt the French way she informed me!....what other way is there to spell it i felt like asking, but i was brought up 'proper' so i didn't!). The reply was a classic 'yeah i have ; I am sick of everyone moaning it's cold so thought I'll pretend I am on holiday, the day is wizzing by, and people are smiling, that's what it's all about'. So either this famous supermarket needs to start random drug testing its staff or maybe this young lady is on to something. A bright outlook and a smile costs nowt as my gramps used to say!. Her sunglasses were a christmas present to herself she also said and a rather nifty pair of Paul Smith's were being sported.
Regards, The Judge.

So How Do You Choose Your Sunglasses?

So how dou you choose your sunglasses?
Well, welcome back to another fun but informative blog from www.sendoptics.com Here's hoping you are well and enjoying your week so far? The temperature maybe cold but here in the studio we are carefully unpacking more and more sunglasses that we are photographing at a rate of knots! (Many thanks Margaret!). So much so that the poor Judge's hands are all looking like a blur. We have so far updated the Prada female collections... (a few more to be added as well I hasten to add) to include their much talked about "Swing" collection and Miu Miu's "Carte Noire" collection these designer sunglasses are designed with a retro glam feel and are fast becoming the sunglasses for the sophisticate femme fatale to be seen about town in...Be in there first and get www.sendoptics.com 105 discount of rrp.
Now I know some people are probably recoiling at the thought of being seen in something as extrovert as the Prada "Swing" or the Miu Miu "Carte Noire" so we are going to be letting you into a few secrets on how to choose your designer sunglasses and the shapes and styles.
So as you may or may not know there are FIVE FACE SHAPES that we all belong to. We are going to give you some tips on identifying your faceshape and what sort of shape sunglass will best suit you.
1) THE SQUARE - In Gent's this is known as the square jawed, in ladies look no further for the perfect example than the Jackie 'O' who was renowned for wearing big glamourous sunglasses. This look of rounded or catseye shape is perfect for making the squarer face look less harsh. With Gent's you are looking to emphasise the squareness of the jaw so look for sharp angles.
Ladies...Dior Myladydior 5
Diorladycat 1
Stella McCartney SM4016
Gents.........Dsquared DQ0068
Prada SPR 14O
2) THE TRIANGLE - The heart shaped face or for the macho man triangular faces are described as a wider forehead to a tapering chin, and for both ladies and gents sunglasses with a wider bottom line and a curved top line suit as well as the catseye shape and well rounded frames, you ladies are spoilt!!!
Ladies... Dsquared DQ0080
Gents.........Paul Smith Romiley
3) THE OBLONG/LONG FACE - You guys are very lucky in your choices the frames are best to be thick and with large lenses, fashion forward frames and retro or vintage styles but just think BIG and dont be afraid to stand out!
Ladies.........Swarovski Amazing
Gents..........Christian Dior Blactie 120S
4) The ROUND - this is one of the trickier frames to settle on as most people with this shape face are often a little shy and self critical. The best advice for you would be to look for narrow frames that also rise to the temples. Colour can also make a big difference and there are some amazing colours in the collections this year. Also "Tortoiseshell" will add definition whether it be the classic or more fashion based patterns can really make a difference. So our final advice for you is dont be afraid to try something new and daring as everyone deserves to look and feel their best!
Ladies....Diormitza 2
Gents.....Paul Smith Berling
5) THE OVAl - No we don't mean the Cricket Ground smart Alecs!..The shape is often considered the most aesthetically appealing for both men and women. Many artists have chosen their models for this fact. The face itself is a soft sweeep from temple to chin. choosing sunglasses for this shape is relatively painles in fact you have the widest choice as ANY FRAME from sporty styles through to designer frames will suit, it's all a matter of personal taste.
Just remember choose the sunglasses for YOU! Don't always folow the crowd! Make sure they are genuine, we at www.sendoptics.com gaurantee 100% all our sunglasses . The sunglasses should offer UVA/UVB protection. You will also see on a lot of ours we offer prescription glazable option.
Well the lecture is over for today. We hope you find this helpful and informative, and by no means do we say you should not be afraid to experiment with different shapes and styles. Remember...the only real Judge is YOU!!!
Love THE JUDGE xxx

The Fabulous 40's

Well we have been glued to the A/W 12 collection on line looking at the fantastic collections presented last week in Milan. One of the main trends that is continuing to dominate the catwalks is the by gone ages of jazz and swing. Think Fabulous Baker Boys,Boardwalk Empire, the Flapper Girl and the Jazz Singer.
The nostalgia that we are all lapping up is all thanks to revivals of great adaptions on the television such as Downton Abbey,Great Expectations (who would have thought Scully would look so tempting in a nightie). Musically, there was the passing of the chanteuse Amy Winehouse who was so gifted vocally regardless of your thoughts on her habits and this weekend saw the sad loss of another great, Etta James. The New wave of jazz inspired singers saw Caro Emerald meteoric climb up the charts and acts like Paloma Faith (renowned for her wacky outfits as much as her voice) taking on the sounds of the music halls of by-gone days.
The by-gone era is a great way to look and one of the new collections we at www.sendoptics.com are so proud to be presenting are Miu Miu's newly re-launched collection. Carte Noire is based on the film noire from the late 40's and 50's (think Lana turner,Joan Crawford)with pussycat eyes and beautiful smooth angles. The collection is seductive and most of all stylishly elegant. Dare to unveil the inner siren and smoulder behind these beautifully crafted sunglasses.Turn heads in your direction with Hollywood's favourite sunglasses of the season.
Enjoy the sun like a star in these amazing sunglasses.
Keep them peeled for more new collections and some exciting new designers coming soon.
Thanks for all your comments and keep reading and remember lets celebrate the year with some real razzle dazzle courtesy of Miu Miu.

Prada says "swing if your'e winning"

Well, what a great start to the week, the sun is shining!!...The temperature was a little warmer although I could still see my brrrrreath on the walk to work!..I hope you had a good weekend as did we here at www.sendoptics.com what with the upload of some of the new collections being made live...See!, its non-stop here at the moment with all these amazzing sunglasses coming through!...
On Friday we unveiled the new collection of Prada s/s 2012 collection. The collection is the usual Prada mix of playful yet sophisticated design. Based on 1950's America, the collection sticks two fingers up at the economic decline and pauses to reflect on the post-modern mix of celebrating new cars and summer days. The collection itself is entitled "the swing" and we hope you love our selection of what we think are the prize pieces.
The collection is a great way to dress up any outfit be it day or night and we think these sunglasses are great for the girl about town who is not afraid to make a statement....
Boys!.. dont be disheartened....yours are being downloaded and sorted right now with the sendoptics team tapping away merrily on the keyboard...
So celebrate the sun and staying positive and get into Prada!

Daily Mail gets it all wrong as Kate Moss pushes for Prada

Shocking fashion alert; Daily Mail's self-appointed showbiz experts have got it all wrong - very wrong in the fashion stakes.

After accusing Kate Moss of stepping out in "bizarre Elton John style sunglasses" in a bid to bag herself a reputation as a veritable rock star, the red-top rag writers quite clearly forgot to do their research.

Any self-respecting fashion junkie could have spotted Kate's specs as the innovative Prada butterfly design (Model 18IS), as opposed to the vile glasses good ol' Reginald Dwight used to wear.

Prada's style is synonymous with bohemian glamour, and as a designer is well recognised brand whose name alone carries a distinct reputation for unique style and outstanding quality. Whether worn for street style or for shade in the sandunes, Prada offers an effortless boho-sleek look.
Send Optics provides the savvy sunglasses buyer with a broad range of Prada’s quirky yet stylish sunglasses. Prada sunglasses are distinctive in design with subtle yet large bold lenses with a smooth and trendy appearance.

Of the many celebrities who wear Prada sunglasses, Hayden Panettiere, Eva Longoria, Jill Hennessy, Spencer Pratt, Brad Pitt are just a few of the designer brand's fans.

Choose Prada for:
  • Innovative shapes
  • Bohemian glamour
  • Groomed style
As a fashionable alternative, why not pick the perenially on-trend Dior brand with their take on the oversized sleek black frame?
These large ladies plastic designer sunglasses by Dior are presented in a shiny black frame and graduated grey lenses.
A great buy for £113.00.
