Well it's the weekend and the reason I am writing this is due to something in the current edition of UK Vogue!...It may come as a surprise to many , but the style savvy have decided to throw all caution to the wind and declare you unfit for society if you are seen in a pair of aviators this season....
They say that VISORS are the best investment , but here at www.sendoptics.com we think they are not everyone's cup of earl Grey. Of course we have them (PRADA, PRADA LINEA ROSSA, GUCCI,DIOR, and many more) but we also have a lot more to choose from, so take a peek and forget all about last years aviators and invest in something new. We think that ROUND is the way forward. I promise that you won't look like the love child of Arthur Askey and Hirohito¬!!
Anyway, to share something funny with you that happened in a local supermarket express store,as I went through the door my ipod changed to a rather shameful Mika track (how sad am I?!). Not only that, but when i went to pay the lady serving had on a pair of shorts and a pair of nifty sunglasses. I asked 'have you actually been out there today? You must be freezing!'. The reply (her name on the badge was Chantelle.....spelt the French way she informed me!....what other way is there to spell it i felt like asking, but i was brought up 'proper' so i didn't!). The reply was a classic 'yeah i have ; I am sick of everyone moaning it's cold so thought I'll pretend I am on holiday, the day is wizzing by, and people are smiling, that's what it's all about'. So either this famous supermarket needs to start random drug testing its staff or maybe this young lady is on to something. A bright outlook and a smile costs nowt as my gramps used to say!. Her sunglasses were a christmas present to herself she also said and a rather nifty pair of Paul Smith's were being sported.
Regards, The Judge.

Lace Appeal
Hey Judges,
Welcome to another installment of the www.sendoptics.com blog by none othe than 'The Judge'. It's still all go here at Judge Opticians based here in Leicester. Winter seems to have really taken a hold with everyone bringing the cold in with them. The smiles and comments of appreciation though keeps us warm (yes we Judges' do have a heart).
Well, we hope wherever you happen to be reading this you are currently keeping warm and well.We have had a glut of feedback and comments on our recent posts and are busy listing all these for when we get together with our wonderful website folks, whom without this site would still be in its unimproved state.
We have to make a little apology regarding some of the missing photographs. This is due to the delay in us receiving the actual models and getting a little ahead of ourselves, we are hard at it, we promise.
So we hope you have been keeping up with everything that is going off with the site and are loving the vastly improved appearence, as are we!. If there is anything you need to contact us about please do not hesitate to use the 'contact us' form on the homepage (an awful lot of you seem to have noticed it already) we do love to hear from you and any enquiries we do our upmost to respond within 24 hours on a weekday.
Well, on trend that we at www.sendoptics.com are proud to have been pushing last year is finally flourishing as a whole for you ladies, yes we Judges' are so ahead of our time!. This week Dolce and Gabbana have announced that 'Lace' is the new 'Black' . Rather a strong comment i hear you cry but no, no, no ! (Is that Amy Winehouse in the background again?).
The trend is coming through in various forms in S/S 2012 from traditional French lace to techno lace with intricate detailing and even lazer cut leather to create subtle lace effects. This look is hardly surprising considering fashion's nostalgic mood of late. The look is even stronger come A/W 2012 when eveningwear and couture showed little but lace in many of the top collections.
So how does this relate to accessories?. The current trends in sunglasses are no longer just solid hues; nude frames are becoming le mode nouveau (get us being all european!) Dolce And Gabbana being so ahead of their time last year launched the infamous Ultra luxurious 'Lace Collection' . These are made of lace embedded in high quality acetate. The sunglasses are available through www.sendoptics.com allbeit of very limited stock (it's no longer possible to order the collection). Dolce and Gabbana only made so many of each style and they are becoming something of a collectors item even after just one season. So come on ladies, stay ahead of the trends and know for the foreseeable future the only judgement passed on to you will be where did they get such stylish sunglasses.
For now our fellow Judges' we are signing off as it is time for us to carry on unpacking the new stock (it really does seem like a never ending job, and a massive thank-you to our photographer who seems to have the patience of a saint and whom without we would not be able to present such strong images).
Keep them peeled,
The Judge.

So How Do You Choose Your Sunglasses?
So how do You choose your Sunglasses?
Well, welcome back to another fun but informative blog from www.sendoptics.com Here’s hoping you are well and enjoying your week so far? The temperature maybe cold but here in the studio we are carefully unpacking more and more sunglasses that we are photographing at a rate of knots! (Many thanks Margaret!). So much so that the poor Judge’s hands are all looking like a blur. We have so far updated the Prada female collections… (a few more to be added as well I hasten to add) to include their much talked about “Swing” collection and Miu Miu’s “Carte Noire” collection these designer sunglasses are designed with a retro glam feel and are fast becoming the sunglasses for the sophisticate femme fatale to be seen about town in…Be in there first and get www.sendoptics.com 10% discount of rrp.
Now I know some people are probably recoiling at the thought of being seen in something as extrovert as the Prada “Swing” or the Miu Miu “Carte Noire” so we are going to be letting you into a few secrets on how to choose your designer sunglasses and the shapes and styles.
So as you may or may not know there are FIVE FACE SHAPES that we all belong to. We are going to give you some tips on identifying your faceshape and what sort of shape sunglass will best suit you.
1) THE SQUARE - In Gent’s this is known as the square jawed, in ladies look no further for the perfect example than the Jackie ‘O’ who was renowned for wearing big glamourous sunglasses. This look of rounded or cats eye shape is perfect for making the squarer face look less harsh. With Gent’s you are looking to emphasise the squareness of the jaw so look for sharp angles.
Ladies…Dior Myladydior 5
Diorladycat 1
Stella McCartney SM4016
Gents………Dsquared DQ0068
Prada SPR 14O
2) THE TRIANGLE - The heart shaped face or for the macho man triangular faces are described as a wider forehead to a tapering chin, and for both ladies and gents sunglasses with a wider bottom line and a curved top line suit as well as the cats eye shape and well rounded frames, you ladies are spoilt!!!
Ladies… Dsquared DQ0080
Gents………Paul Smith Romiley
3) THE OBLONG/LONG FACE - You guys are very lucky in your choices the frames are best to be thick and with large lenses, fashion forward frames and retro or vintage styles but just think BIG and dont be afraid to stand out!
Ladies………Swarovski Amazing
Gents……….Christian Dior Blacktie 120S
4) The ROUND - this is one of the trickier frames to settle on as most people with this shape face are often a little shy and self critical. The best advice for you would be to look for narrow frames that also rise to the temples. Colour can also make a big difference and there are some amazing colours in the collections this year. Also “Tortoiseshell” will add definition whether it be the classic or more fashion based patterns can really make a difference. So our final advice for you is dont be afraid to try something new and daring as everyone deserves to look and feel their best!
Ladies….Diormitza 2
Gents…..Paul Smith Berling
5) THE OVAL - No we don’t mean the Cricket Ground smart Alecs!..The shape is often considered the most aesthetically appealing for both men and women. Many artists have chosen their models for this fact. The face itself is a soft sweep from temple to chin. choosing sunglasses for this shape is relatively painless in fact you have the widest choice as ANY FRAME from sporty styles through to designer frames will suit, it’s all a matter of personal taste.
Just remember choose the sunglasses for YOU! Don’t always folow the crowd! Make sure they are genuine, we at www.sendoptics.com gaurantee 100% all our sunglasses . The sunglasses should offer UVA/UVB protection. You will also see on a lot of ours we offer prescription glazable option.
Well the lecture is over for today. We hope you find this helpful and informative, and by no means do we say you should not be afraid to experiment with different shapes and styles. Remember…the only real Judge is YOU!!!

Update, Facebook and a little clue or 2 and offer!
Good day folks, it's another wet and blustery day here at www.sendoptics.com. The Fabulous 40's
Well we have been glued to the A/W 12 collection on line looking at the fantastic collections presented last week in Milan. One of the main trends that is continuing to dominate the catwalks is the by gone ages of jazz and swing. Think Fabulous Baker Boys,Boardwalk Empire, the Flapper Girl and the Jazz Singer.
The nostalgia that we are all lapping up is all thanks to revivals of great adaptions on the television such as Downton Abbey,Great Expectations (who would have thought Scully would look so tempting in a nightie). Musically, there was the passing of the chanteuse Amy Winehouse who was so gifted vocally regardless of your thoughts on her habits and this weekend saw the sad loss of another great, Etta James. The New wave of jazz inspired singers saw Caro Emerald meteoric climb up the charts and acts like Paloma Faith (renowned for her wacky outfits as much as her voice) taking on the sounds of the music halls of by-gone days.
The by-gone era is a great way to look and one of the new collections we at www.sendoptics.com are so proud to be presenting are Miu Miu's newly re-launched collection. Carte Noire is based on the film noire from the late 40's and 50's (think Lana turner,Joan Crawford)with pussycat eyes and beautiful smooth angles. The collection is seductive and most of all stylishly elegant. Dare to unveil the inner siren and smoulder behind these beautifully crafted sunglasses.Turn heads in your direction with Hollywood's favourite sunglasses of the season.
Enjoy the sun like a star in these amazing sunglasses.
Keep them peeled for more new collections and some exciting new designers coming soon.
Thanks for all your comments and keep reading and remember lets celebrate the year with some real razzle dazzle courtesy of Miu Miu.

Prada says "swing if your'e winning"
Well, what a great start to the week, the sun is shining!!...The temperature was a little warmer although I could still see my brrrrreath on the walk to work!..I hope you had a good weekend as did we here at www.sendoptics.com what with the upload of some of the new collections being made live...See!, its non-stop here at the moment with all these amazzing sunglasses coming through!...
On Friday we unveiled the new collection of Prada s/s 2012 collection. The collection is the usual Prada mix of playful yet sophisticated design. Based on 1950's America, the collection sticks two fingers up at the economic decline and pauses to reflect on the post-modern mix of celebrating new cars and summer days. The collection itself is entitled "the swing" and we hope you love our selection of what we think are the prize pieces.
The collection is a great way to dress up any outfit be it day or night and we think these sunglasses are great for the girl about town who is not afraid to make a statement....
Boys!.. dont be disheartened....yours are being downloaded and sorted right now with the sendoptics team tapping away merrily on the keyboard...
So celebrate the sun and staying positive and get into Prada!

This season i shall mostly be wearing.........
Well,Menswear trends set to take the high street by storm are acid colours (Prada Linea Rossa Wraparounds) and primary colours (Oliver Peoples,Paul Smith) taking centre stage for those of you that dare to be seen and heard (Dsquared). Tailoring continues to become more relaxed with trousers going wider and shirts becoming more fuller (Yes! i'll be singing the Rubettes "Sugar baby love" down the anchor on a sat night in my regalia!). Neutrals (Oliver Peoples,Paul Smith,Prada)becoming bleached out and tans emphasised . Blue is the colour (Dior Homme, Prada) and ranges from cobalt to indigo and a deep Mediterranean sea of hues......What ever look you decide to begin building, never forget that accessories maketh the man, and boy,do we have some good shades for you!!!!!!today it is so cold, I am wearing a natural shade of blue as i type this blog for you guys......The Judge.

A SPRING IN YOUR STEP.
Well its all go here at Sendoptics. We are currently in the throws of still tidying up the old site and continuing with the improvements. All we can say is a huge thanks to those working on the improvements, your feedback and of course your patience, we never anticipated the changes taking this long but little did we know!! Again, thank-you and please keep those peepers peeled for the new lines soon to be introduced which we cannot wait to present and also to hear your thoughts on....So other than the website what else have we been up to since our last words? Well the sale went down a storm and we MAY be throwing another one sometime again this month or early feb for you to take advantage of the new lines. After hearing all about the film "The Artist"...we decided to potter on over and check out if all the fuss was worth it, and boy was it!. you are thrown into the world of silent film on the roaring 20's inspiring imagery and clothes that you would sell your mother for. The only thing missing on either of the stars were optics for the leading lady Berenice Bejo... she would have definitely have suited a daring pair of Swarovski,Bvlgari or even Miu Miu's new collection though they are based around the 1940's, well fashion does go full circle after all!! As for Jean Dujardin he would have definitely been at home in Oliver Peoples,Paul Smith or Ray-Ban, classic and cool like himself.A must see before it sweeps the oscars.what with the awards season on its way we would like to see who you would award the sendoptics golden specsappeal award to? the person could be dead or alive as long they are proud to be caught wearing specs.what have you got to lose and remember keep them peeled for us and if you see something you think we should be aware of please let us know via (the usual e-mail address). We hope 2012 is going as well for you as it is for us and remember those sunglasses in this winter light and also keep cool whilst it's unseasonably mild.regards, The judge x.

LETS GO ROUND AGAIN!!!!
You associate both John Lennon and Ozzy Osbourne with round sunglasses , and this retro style is now en vogue big time!!!!Round shapes are popular in retro style......Think Wallis Simpson and Edward Windsor, with a splash of Downton abbey....Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith's new sunglass styles pay hommage to this era,60's styles........think Ray-Ban, and cutting edge shades.....think Stella McCartney.Famous people wearing round sunglasses include Johnny Depp (Sheldrake model.....Oliver Peoples),Lady Gaga and the Olsen twins. They are going to be seen everywhere this summer!....trust the Judge!!!.....look at www.sendoptics.com for help and advice!

They are going to be seen everywhere this summer!....trust the Judge!!!.....

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS DEFINITELY GOLD AND DIAMONDS ARE MY BEST FRIEND
Well 2012 is looking it's just one big excuse for a good old knees up. we have the Olympics, the Queen's diamond Jubilee and of course an extra bank holiday to go with that (God bless you queenie!). So with all these shindigs and soirees we will all be having to celebrate and of course the scorching weather we are going to have, it cant be as wet as last year surely.....We also have all the major shows on their way with what's going to be hot for the coming couple of years....Look out for news of Dior's new in-house superstar (some people are going to think they have lost their minds if the rumours are true). We have a continuing royal theme with various films and exhibitions celebrating the Monarchy in its many different faces....Pippa or Kate that's the question we think they are both Beauts and think come when the sun shines they will not be seen without a HUGE pair of shades to hide from the papparazzi. No Glastonbury this year but there will be partying in the parks all up and down the country with the usual suspects of Reading,Leeds,V festival. London gets its own festival as well with details still to be confirmed but with it being London it can only be a good one.So with festivals ...what to wear??!!...Well with the lack of sleep you know you need some bloody cool shades and if not a good hat. Sunglasses are the most versatile way to change your look so why stop at one pair...invest in two or three , or infact get them all!!Keep smiling and remember lets party like its the end of the world(god bless the Mayans, but we Brits have never needed an excuse for a party!). maybe an excuse for another pair of sunglasses i'll meet you at the check out with my four favouritesDsquared DQ0062Stella McCartney SM4016Christian Dior CD3228SPaul Smith ElsonOh look to the east I can see the sun starting to shine!....Keep em peeled and remember to vote for the golden specsappeal award...Love The Judge.

Happy Birthday Gucci!
18 November 2011 No CommentsHappy Birthday Gucci! by AlexGucci has reached the landmark of being 90 years old……so how did it all start????…..The founder Guccio Gucci rebelled against joining his family’s ailing straw-hat making business, and ran away to London where he became maitre d’hotel at the world famous Savoy, where he looked after the wealthy guests, paying particular attention to their baggage. He returned to Florence and opened a small shop selling saddlery, expanding later into bags and shoes which were decorated with a horse’s snaffle, and this became associated later with the Gucci company.Aldo Gucci his son joined the company and designed the iconic Gucci logo using the interlocking double G’s of his father’s initials.Nowadays, Gucci is associated with simpicity, purity and glamour. The 2012 collection of sunglasses is stunning…….follow us , and we will inform you of their launch.Send us an e-mail to admin@judgeopticians.co.uk and we will inform you of their launch…..LEAD FASHION,DON’T FOLLOW IT!!!!!!!

Dannii Minogues Sunglasses Advice
Dannii Minogues Sunglasses Advice by Davina RIn the Mail on sunday magazine 23/10/11 style icon Dannii Minogue gives advice about the “extras” that jazz up an outfit. With regards to sunglasses she states……“Dont underestimate the power of sunglasses to jazz up an outfit. i never go anywhere without a pair in my handbag and a back-up pair in the car, and I have a few spares in a drawer in my wardrobe, too. I choose them according to my mood. some are very “Hey look at me!” Others allow me to hide when I’m in the mood to blend into the background, and some are practical for throwing on when I’m driving or have a sleepless night with Ethan (son). The secret is finding a shape that suits your face. I think aviators are timless…..( SENDOPTICS suggestion…..think Ray-ban, swarovski Paul Smith) - I have a pair in gold and silver. I own a pair of cherry - red heart shaped sunnies (SENDOPTICS suggestion…..think Dior, Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith) , and the vintage Christian Dior super -sizers (SENDOPTICS suggestion……look at Vintage section) when I want to up the glam factor!

UV And Winter Sun
UV and Winter Sun by AlexYou must protect your eyes as much during the winter months against harmful UV as in the summer. It is a myth that summer heat is associated with sunburn. It may be getting close to freezing, the leaves falling off the trees, but this has nothing to do with the power of the the sun’s UV.A good guide to what the sun exposure is to look at your shadow. If the shadow is SHORTER than you , typically as it is at noon , make sure you are protected. All our sunglasses feature UV protection and meet CE regulations so giving your eyes the best protection necessary. So when you go on your skiing holiday especially this winter, be sensible and wear sunglasses/ ski goggles along with UV protection on your lips and exposed parts of your face. You will regret it later on if you do not.For any other advice please do not hesitate and send us an e-mail toadmin@judgeopticians.co.uk

TWEED - Men Look On, Look Sharp
TWEED - Men look on , look sharp. by Davina RAs winter fast approaches , heavier fabrics , layers, become the staple outfit . To help compliment this, http://www.sendoptics.com/ suggest tortoiseshell and retro style black to compliment this look. Think Victorian explorer, the guy on the street or the Dandy of today. (Not Desperate Dan).Champions of this look are OLIVER PEOPLES and PAUL SMITH for men.For you ladies, never fear, tweed and all things retro are still key style so think again OLIVER PEOPLES and PAUL SMITH.

Face facts for real specs appeal!
As we drive further towards the holiday season (huzzah!) and bright sunny skies are no longer a myth, it's well and truly time to grab your sunglasses and tootle off to the park. But if we're honest, we're unlikey to grab a pair we already own - bright skies mean prime shopping time!
So, armed with your flexible friend - where do you start in picking the perfect pair?
Square face: You'll need slightly curved frames with the top high enough on the face to downplay the jawline.
Round face: Best to pick straight or angular frames in a deep colour with coloured lenses.
Triangular face: Select sleek oval lenses with coloured frames.
Oblong face: Remember that big is beautiful and go for a wide spanning frame to cover a broad section of the face.
Oval face: It's best to choose a frame that proportional to your face size.
Okay, so the frame style's sorted. What's next?
Sunglasses aren't meant to just be stylish, remember they need to function well too. It's best to take your eyes' needs in to consideration when picking the lenses.
The colour of lens can make or break if you'll continue to use your sunglasses after initial purchase, or whether they'll just become a fad buy.
Pick:
Grey tints to reduce brightness without distorting colour.
Brown and amber tints to reduce glare, including that created by sunlight, which can make things appear hazy.
Fashionable yellow tints to reduce the haze from sunlight and sharpen vision, but they cause greater colour distortion.
Green tints to reduce glare and help filter out some sunlight. They also provide good contrast between objects.
Rose tints to use in outdoor activities as it provides a good contrast for objects viewed against blue or green backgrounds.

Oversize sunglasses reduce health risks.
Oversized sunglasses are all the rage for designer sunglasses producers. From Chanel to YSL the consensus is; if it isn’t chunky, forget it!
Celebrities love it, not only are they draped in the latest fashion, but it makes for excellent shade from the paparazzi, perfect if you’re stumbling out of a nightclub at 3am and would like to hide the night gone by! Alla, Lady Gaga! After all why would you need sunglasses in the dead of night?
Yet, there is another plus from these bulky sunglasses, as research from the vision council suggests. The area of skin around the eye is very delicate, therefore is at high levels of risk from UV rays. The extra protection provided by the designer sunglasses, not only reduces the risk of skin cancer, but also reduces squinting, which causes “crows feet.”
Perfect if you’re looking for an excuse to splash out on those must have glasses! Enjoy!

Malaika Arora sports Jimmy Choo’s new sunglasses
Finally the moment we’ve all been waiting for, but it has been well worth the wait! Sendoptics have now launched their Jimmy Choo sunglasses range. What a treat! So, what can you expect from the “brand designer of the year 2008”? Well nothing less than 14 pairs of sheer beauty of course!Malaika Arora has been seen sporting a pair of Jimmy Choo's new glasses, needless to say she looks truly stunning.
Should Jimmy Choo’s range of shoes and bags be anything to go by, you can expect to see more of fashionable glasses in the papers, even on the set of shows such as Desperate Housewives and Dirty Sexy Money.
Truth is, any fashion conscious person can see the stunning blend of classic with contemporary that Choo has managed to design into his range of sunglasses, such as Jimmy Choo Karin. What is a little harder to spot however is the amount of craftsmanship that goes into a piece like this.
Notorious for quality, Jimmy Choo’s sunglasses are sure to fit the new durable fashion, which emerged from the Milan fashion show last week.
Should you wish to beat the rush, and grab your hands on a pair of these dazzling beauties, then click on the link and these trendy á la mode glasses will be yours just in time for sunny spring!

Credit Crunch Chic: Cheap Interim or Classic Investment buys? That is the question.
Well, you can't have failed to have heard how people are spending less yadda yadda yadda.
The real proposition is: instead of questioning how much you should spend on accessories etc, perhaps we should be asking how much wear will we get out of something we buy for a quick fashion fix?
Long term, emotionally and economically it makes sense to invest only in items that we genuinely adore and make us feel and look good.
The cheap fast-fashion delivered by the high street over the last couple of years, as we've discovered, only lasts a couple of wears/washes: it's here where we think it should stop.
Reuters report this week that production of Italian eyewear is being hit hard by the economic downturn. A world leader in the industry, they've found their main export market to the US dropping by more than 20% at a time of year when sales should be flourishing.
Play your part in keeping it all going by investing in a pair of
sunglasses to keep forever. And this pair of Chanel havana frames with pearl detail at the temple is one we're looking to cherish...

Aussie cull on colour deficient lenses
Crazy as it sounds, last week it was reported by the Canberra Times that shades with brown, yellow or reddish tinted lenses will be unacceptable for driving in.
Those with rose-tinted rage were told that traffic-lights use a green-blue hue to help colour deficient road users (about 8% of men) detect green traffic signals, whilst sunglasses with a brown lense designed to block the glare from blue skies actually end up blocking out the blue light emitted from traffic-lights.
Professor Stephen Dain of the University of New South Wales,
Australia and former head of the School of Optometry and Vision Science discovered that in a study of "49 colour-deficient males and 20 with normal vision were given various tinted sunglasses and asked to identify colours of simulated traffic lights.
"About 20 per cent of colour-deficient subjects wearing tinted glasses could not correctly identify the lights. His report notes that "response times for colour-deficient people were slower than colour normals for red and yellow" lights."
The interesting news for those style, rather than, science conscious wearers of sunglasses is that according to Professor Dain, European countries are trying to avoid imposing legislation on sunglasses manufacturers in an effort not to hamper sales.
If you fancy being particularly responsible, have a look at some high standard lenses to protect your peepers...

Daily Mail gets it all wrong as Kate Moss pushes for Prada
Shocking fashion alert; Daily Mail's self-appointed showbiz experts have got it all wrong - very wrong in the fashion stakes. After accusing Kate Moss of stepping out in "bizarre Elton John style sunglasses" in a bid to bag herself a reputation as a veritable rock star, the red-top rag writers quite clearly forgot to do their research.
Any self-respecting fashion junkie could have spotted Kate's specs as the innovative Prada butterfly design (Model 18IS), as opposed to the vile glasses good ol' Reginald Dwight used to wear.
Prada's style is synonymous with bohemian glamour, and as a designer is well recognised brand whose name alone carries a distinct reputation for unique style and outstanding quality. Whether worn for street style or for shade in the sandunes, Prada offers an effortless boho-sleek look.
Send Optics provides the savvy sunglasses buyer with a broad range of Prada’s quirky yet stylish sunglasses. Prada sunglasses are distinctive in design with subtle yet large bold lenses with a smooth and trendy appearance.Of the many celebrities who wear Prada sunglasses, Hayden Panettiere, Eva Longoria, Jill Hennessy, Spencer Pratt, Brad Pitt are just a few of the designer brand's fans.
Choose Prada for:
- Innovative shapes
- Bohemian glamour
- Groomed style
